Enter Planned Quantities for Units

On the Units tab of the Plan form, expand the work breakdown structure (WBS) to display the unit assignments for which you want to enter quantities. You cannot enter quantities for WBS elements.

To enter planned unit quantities:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Hubs > Projects > Plan.
  2. On the Plan form, select the project for which you want to enter unit quantities.
  3. On the Actions bar, click Check Out.
  4. Select the Units tab.
  5. Expand the WBS to display the unit assignments for which you want to enter quantities.
  6. To enter quantities for a unit assignment that does not yet exist, hover over the WBS element to which you want add the assignment, click next to the element name, and add the assignment.
You can also click at the end of the row and then click Add Units to add the assignment.
  7. Do any of the following:
    • In the middle section of the Units Planning grid, enter an amount in the ETC Quantity field of the unit row. Vantagepoint allocates the quantity to the calendar periods for the unit assignment.
    • In the upper-right corner of the Units Planning grid, click > Sub-Row Selection and then select Planned Quantity to display the sub-row in the right section of the grid. Enter quantities in the appropriate calendar periods of the unit row.
You can use the Scale option to display the calendar period columns by Days & Months, Weeks, or Months. If you later change the scale (for example, from Weeks to Months), Vantagepoint reallocates the quantity for the new scale.

As you make entries in the calendar periods, columns in the middle section of the Units Planning grid that contain calculated values based on the calendar period entries (such as planned cost and billing amounts) are not updated immediately. Instead, Vantagepoint displays those values with a strikethrough to indicate that they are no longer current. When you move to another grid row or, with a few exceptions, otherwise move off the current row, all grid cells with out-of-date values are automatically recalculated, and the strikethrough is removed.
