Prerequisites for Using the Transfer Settings Utility

Complete the required prerequisites before you use the Transfer Settings utility to transfer settings from one Vantagepoint database to another.

Prerequisites

  • If you use the Vantagepoint on-premises product, complete the steps in the "Create a Share for the Transfer Settings Utility" section of the Deltek Vantagepoint Installation and Maintenance guide.
  • Contact Deltek Support Services to get a password to access the Transfer Settings utility. For more information, see Password for the Transfer Settings Utility.
  • The same user must perform both the export and import steps of the transfer settings process.
  • The user who performs the export and import steps must belong to a role that is an Administrator type of role and must have full access to all Vantagepoint menu items. For more information, see Security Setup for the Transfer Settings Utility.
  • The client ID entered in Settings > General > Modules in the source and target databases must be the same.
  • The source and target databases must have the same modules activated, excluding the ODBC and Intelligence modules.
  • The source and target databases must be on the same version. For example, if the source database is on version 6.0.2, then the target database must also be on version 6.0.2.
  • If you use organizations in Vantagepoint, the first level of the organization must match in the source and target databases.
  • Ensure that all users are logged out of Vantagepoint when you perform the export and import steps.
  • If you use a Unionpoint integration, you must disable the integration before you use Transfer Settings to export and import settings. After you complete exporting and importing, you can enable the Unionpoint integration again. These steps ensure that workflows that are managed by Unionpoint are configured in the correct database.

Other Requirements If You Use Vantagepoint Analysis Cubes

If you are importing user-defined fields that are available to Vantagepoint Analysis Cubes, you must contact Deltek Support Services and request a cube rebuild after you import settings to a target database.
