Add a New Unit File

You can add a new unit file in Transaction Entry.

Prerequisite: The unit must be set up in Units Settings before you create unit transactions.

To add a new unit file:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Transaction Center > Transaction Entry > Units.

    The transaction type list is filtered based on your security role's access rights. If you use multiple companies, this list is further refined based on the active company. See the Accounting tab of Role Security for more information.

  2. Click + New Unit.
  3. On the Units form, complete the following actions:
    1. In the Units field, enter or select the unit.
    2. If this will be a recurring transaction, select the Recurring option.
    3. If you have diaries set up in Accounting Settings, use the Diary field to specify a diary type for the transaction. The Diary Number field auto populates with the diary number when you save the transaction.
    4. In the End Date field, enter or select the ending date for the transaction file.
    5. Optional. In the Control Total field, enter an amount.
    6. Click OK.
    The dialog box closes and the transaction file opens on the Units form.
  4. In the Unit header field on the Units form, specify the unit number.
  5. To specify line items for the transaction file, add rows to the grid; each line of this grid represents one unit entry for each project.
    An employee can have many unit entries for several different projects, and each project can have a different phase number and labor code.
  6. Click Save.
    The fields below the grid display summary information for the transaction file.
