Rules for Publishing to Live

Use this reference to learn about the multiple rules that apply when you publish family content updates to the live environment.

Publishing a Family

When you publish a family content update, the following rules apply:

Condition Result
None Specpoint loads and activates the following into production:
  • The family
  • All product types in the family
  • All manufacturers under the product types
  • All manufacturer/BPM company pages referenced in the family
Specpoint removes the "DeltekWriterDraft" listing type.
Specpoint updates the following information for the family:
  • DATE PUBLISHED
  • PUBLISHED BY
  • STATUS to Published
The earlier copy of the family has not been used in a project. Specpoint overwrites the earlier copy of the family with the newly uploaded family content update as the latest and only copy.
The earlier copy of the family has been used in any project. Specpoint retains the earlier copy of the family and saves the newly uploaded family content update as the latest copy.

Reading a Family

When an A/E firm user uses a family that has a content update in a project, the following rules apply:

Condition Result
An A/E firm user adds the family to the project. The project loads the latest copy, if not the only copy, of the family.
An A/E firm user removes and re-adds the family to the project. The project loads the latest copy, if not the only copy, of the family.
An A/E firm user removes the family from the project and the family is not used by any other project from any A/E firm. Specpoint removes the earlier copy of the family from the database.
An A/E firm user views the existing added family in the project. Specpoint loads the copy of the family from when the family was added regardless of how many later copies of the family Deltek published.
