Permissions wInsight Analytics Tab

Use this tab on the Role Details form to set the permissions for a particular role.

Users are assigned a primary role to define permissions; however, a user or group assigned an Owner Delegate role can have an overriding role on the Access Control dialog box within the wInsight Analytics Administrator application.

In this section, enabling a menu item means allowing users to see and use it wInsight Analytics Administrator.

Shared Setup This item controls the entire Shared Setup menu in wInsight Analytics Administrator, allowing users to create or update data items (including calendars, contractor information, structures, and units) that can be shared across multiple contracts. In addition, this item also allows users to import those Share Setup items to which their role has access.

Each child node under Shared Setup has extended level of security for New, Edit, and Delete.

To allow users to import a new Shared Setup item, enable Import File under Utilities and New for a Shared Setup item on this tab.

  • Calendar— Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to update the Calendars spreadsheet.

    A calendar is only imported if New is enabled both for Calendar and Contracts.

  • Contractors — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to update the Contractors spreadsheet.

    A contractor is only imported if New is enabled both for Contractors and Contracts.

  • Structures — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to update the Structures spreadsheet.
  • Thresholds — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to update the Thresholds spreadsheet.
  • Units — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to update the Units spreadsheet.
  • Weights — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to update the Weights spreadsheet.
  • CFSR Thresholds — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to update the Contract Funds Status Report (CFSR) Thresholds spreadsheet.
Contract Setup This item controls the entire Contract Setup menu in wInsight Analytics Administrator, allowing users to set up a contract, lay out the contract structure, add or update contract element and other related data items required to generate reports.

The child node under Contract Setup has extended level of security for New, Edit, and Delete. For example, enabling New for the Contracts item allows a user to insert a contract.

  • Contracts — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to create contracts and enter contract-specific information, define the units for entering CPR Format 3 and Format 4 data, and specify the structure for entering Format 4 data.
Utilities Enabling this item allows you to use the Utilities menu in wInsight Analytics Administrator, wInsight Analytics Desktop, and C/S Glue Viewer.
  • Recalculate — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to recalculate all contracts to which they have access.
  • Export File — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to export all contracts to which they have access.
  • Export Cost Data — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to export cost data from an external system, such as Cobra and Acumen, in the Deltek Cost Data Exchange (DCDE) or Integrated Program Management Data Analysis Report (IPMDAR) format.
  • Import File — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited being edited to import all contracts to which they have access.

    To import a new Shared Setup items, enable New for the shared setup item. To import data into a new contract, enable New for the Contracts item under Contract Setup.

  • Import Cost Data — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to import cost data from an external system, such as Cobra and Acumen, in the DCDE or IPMDAR format.
  • Import Schedule Data — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to import schedule data from a scheduling tool, such as Microsoft Project Server, Open Plan, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project Professional, and IPMDAR Integrated Program Management Data Analysis Report.
  • Backup — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to back up all contracts to which they have access.
  • Restore — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to restore all contracts to which they have access.
  • Define User Fields — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to see and use the Define User Fields dialog box, which is used to add, update, or delete user-defined fields.
  • Copy Forward — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to see and use the Copy Forward dialog box, which is used to copy wInsight Analytics narratives and inputs from any period to another period.
  • Tree Manager — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned this role to see and use the Tree Manager dialog box, which is used to switch contract and contract structures.
  • WBS Map — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to see and use the WBS Mapper dialog box, which is used to map existing WBS contracts to a target structure.
  • Run Script — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to use the Script Arguments dialog box, which is used to run a number of scripts that supports various functions in wInsight Analytics Administrator.
  • Schedule Utilities — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited being edited to use the Utilities menu in C/S Glue Viewer. This menu includes the Schedule Maintenance, Import Schedule, Update Prior Finish Dates, and Set Filter Flags options.
Input This item controls the narrative entry and contract information in wInsight Analytics Desktop, allowing users to enter or update narratives and basic information for any contract element in the selected structure.
  • Element EAC — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to use the Element EAC dialog box (and input window), which is used to enter an estimate-at-completion for lowest level elements in the active structure, along with supporting rationale.
  • Format 5 Narrative — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to use the Format 5 Input window.
  • User Narrative — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to use the User Narrative Input window.
  • Linked File — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to use the Linked File dialog box, which is used to link each element in each period to an external file, such as a document or presentation file.
  • Scope of Work — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to use the Scope of Work Input window, which is used to enter a narrative describing active contract element.
  • Tripwire Narrative — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to use the Tripwire Narrative Input window, which is used to briefly explain the metric results as presented on a report.
  • EAC/Funding — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to see and use the Copy Forward dialog box, which is used to copy wInsight Analytics narratives and inputs from any period to another period.
  • Milestones — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to use the Milestones dialog box, which is used to view or update available milestones.
  • Scorecard — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to use the Scorecard dialog box, which is used to set color indicators for Scorecard metrics.
Custom Items This item controls the Export Custom Items and Import Custom Items commands on the File menu in wInsight Analytics Desktop and C/S Glue Viewer.
  • Export Custom Items — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to create an XML definition file for sharing chart, filter, and view definitions with other users.
  • Import Custom Items — Enabling this item allows users and group member sassigned the role being edited to use the Import Custom Items dialog box, allowing you to import chart, filter, and view definitions contained in an XML definition file.
Project Load Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to load data via the QlikView Access Point using the wInsight_Analytics.QVW file. This item controls the Load All Projects and Load Selected Project options.
  • Load All Projects — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to load data for all projects.
  • Load Selected Project — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to load data for the selected project.
File This item controls the Application Preferences and Process Logs commands on the File menu in wInsight Analytics Administrator.
  • Application Preferences — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to change the time-out value when generating a report and the location of the process log details on the Application Preferences dialog box.
  • Process Logs — Enabling this item allows users and group members assigned the role being edited to access and use the Process Logs dialog box, which allows them to view processes that they performed for a selected contract in wInsight Analytics Administrator and wInsight Analytics Desktop.
