Create a Master Element from a Template

A master element is a group of proposal elements that you create and save for reuse. Master elements are helpful for quickly creating new proposals that contain the same types of information and layout. You can create a master element from a proposal template.

To create and save a master element from a template:

  1. In the Navigation pane, go to the Proposals > Templates and click +Add Master Element in the Master Elements grid.
  2. On the Add Master dialog box, define the new master element's:
    • Name: Enter a unique name for the master element.
    • Category: Select a category for the master element. The categories allow you to organize the elements by function. You can search the elements by category and they are defined by your system administrator.
    • Description: Enter a description for the master element. This may include the type of proposal in which the element is used, or other information that makes the element easily identifiable from the Master Elements dialog box.
  3. Click Save. The Proposal Builder displays.
  4. Insert elements onto the proposal and format as needed.
  5. Click Save. The master element is added to:
    • The Master Elements grid in Proposals > Templates.
    • The Deltek Elements panel in Proposals > Custom Proposals.
    • The Master Elements dialog box, which provides a list of all master elements that are available when a master element is added to a proposal.
