Printing Defaults Tab

Use the fields on this tab to enter or update a user's default printer settings and report delivery options.

Default Printing Settings

Use this group box to select a default printer ID. You can also set up page, margin, and locale defaults for this user.

Field Description
Default System Printer ID

Enter, or click to select, a default printer for this user. Costpoint displays printers that are already made available for printing reports.

Note: Before you assign a default printer to a user on this screen, you must first establish a catalog of printers. These printers are added in the server for selection when printing reports using Costpoint. You can do this using the Manage System Printers screen.

Default Page Size

Use this group box to specify page and margin defaults for this user.

Note: Defaults for the fields in this group box can also be set using the Configure System Settings screen. If you entered defaults for any of these settings on this tab as well as on the Configure System Settings screen, Costpoint always uses the defaults on this tab.
Field Description
Page Size

Use this drop-down list to select the default page size for when this user generates standard reports.

  • None: Select this option to use the default page size specified on the Configure System Settings screen.
  • Letter: Select this option to use the dimensions of a letter-sized paper (8.5 x 11 inches) as the default page size. When you select this option, Costpoint automatically populates the Page Height and Page Width fields.
  • A4: Select this option to use the dimensions of an A4-sized paper (8.268 x 11.693 inches) as the default page size. When you select this option, Costpoint automatically populates the Page Height and Page Width fields.
  • Custom: Select this option to specify your preferred dimensions as the default page size. When you select this option, you must enter values in the Page Height and Page Width fields.
Unit of Measure

Use this drop-down list to select the default unit of measure for the values specified in the Top Margin, Bottom Margin, Left Margin, Right Margin, Page Height, and Page Width fields.

  • None: Select this option to use the value specified in the Unit of Measure drop-down list of the Configure System Settings screen.
  • Inches: Use this field to use inches as the unit of measure for the default page size and margins.
  • Millimeters: Use this field to use millimeters as the unit of measure for the default page size and margins.
Top Margin

Enter the allowance of the printable area from the top of the page.

Bottom Margin

Enter the allowance of the printable area from the bottom of the page.

Left Margin

Enter the allowance of the printable area from the left side of the page.

Right Margin

Enter the allowance of the printable area from the right side of the page.

If you do not enter data in the Top Margin, Bottom Margin, Left Margin, and/or Right Margin fields, Costpoint uses the values specified in the Default Page Size group box of the Configure System Settings screen.

Page Height

If you select Letter or A4 from the Page Size drop-down list, this field displays the default value for the selected option.

If you select this Custom from the Page Size drop-down list, use this field to enter a value you want to use as the default paper height.

Page Width

If you select Letter or A4 from the Page Size drop-down list, this field displays the default value for the selected option.

If you select this Custom from the Page Size drop-down list, use this field to enter a value you want to use as the default paper width.

Delivery Options Enabled for This User

Use this group box to enable or disable report delivery options for this user.

Field Description
System Printer

Select this check box to enable this user to print reports using network printers.

Print to File

Select this check box to enable this user to save reports as a file.

Local Printer/Download

Select this check box to enable this user to download report files and print reports on local printers.

Email

Select this check box to enable this user to email report files.

Archive

Select this check box to enable users to archive report files.

Default Delivery Options For This User

Use this group box to select the default report delivery options for this user.

Field Description
System Printer Select this check box to use network printers as a default delivery method for this user.
Print to File Select this check box to save a report as a file, by default, for this user.
Local Printer Select this check box to make downloading report files, and printing reports on local printers, a default delivery method for this user.
Email Select this check box to make emailing report files a default delivery method for this user.
Archive Select this check box to make archiving report files a default delivery method for this user.
