Manufacturing BOM Subtask
Use this subtask to set up and maintain the hierarchical relationship of parts in a production environment.
You can use it to develop Manufacturing Bills of Material (MBOMs) one level at a time by specifying the parent part and listing first-level components and related data to create multi-level MBOMs. One part (or part/revision, if multiple revenues are allowed) can have multiple components on its MBOM. You can also include a part as a component on one or more MBOMs, and a parent on one MBOM can be a component on others.
The settings and default values on the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen affect how you can maintain and release MBOMs in this screen.
Use this screen (before implementing Production Control and Material Requirements Planning) to create, maintain, and release MBOMs.

You can only use a Material Production Scheduling (MPS) planned part as a component if the assembly part is also an MPS planned part. |
Rev |
Enter, or click to select, the component part revision for this MBOM line. This must be a valid revision number for the part from the Manage Parts screen. |
Make/Buy |
Use the drop-down list to select Make if the component is a make part and Buy if the component is a buy part. This required field defaults from the main screen and can be modified. |
Component MBOM Release Status |
This field displays the release status of the MBOM for a component if it is a subassembly. If the part has its own MBOM assembly (where the MBOM Exists field is Y), this field displays the release status for that assembly level. If the MBOM Exists field is N, this field is null. |
Quantity Type |
To specify how component requirements are calculated, use the drop-down list to select the quantity type code:
The default values depend on the component type and the setting of the As Required check box on the Characteristics tab. |
Quantity |
Enter the component part quantity for the MBOM in this required field. If a component part has an inventory, or default, unit of measure of EA, only fractional quantities are rounded up when exploding BOM requirements, unless the assembly part is an MPS Planning-Only part. |
U/M |
This field displays the inventory unit of measure for the component from the Manage Parts screen. |
Component Type |
Use the drop-down list to select the component type code. Valid values are:
This required field defaults from the Manage Parts screen and can be modified. |
