Cost Elements Tab

Use this subtask to derive the unit cost of a part.

The unit cost can be broken down into various direct and burden elements such as material, labor, subcontract, and miscellaneous. If Cost Suppression is active (the Suppress Cost check box is selected on the Manage Users screen in Costpoint Administration), this subtask will be disabled.

Access this tab whenever you want to attach a unit cost to the part that has been adjusted.

Field	Description
Cost Method	The cost method is displayed in this field.

Direct Unit Costs

If you entered information in the Inv Abbrev field and the Part field on the Details tab, the fields in the Direct Unit Costs group box will be available; otherwise, these fields will be disabled and cannot be modified.

Field	Description
Material	Enter, or click to select, the direct material unit cost.
Labor	Enter, or click to select, the direct labor unit cost.
Subcontract	Enter, or click to select, the direct subcontract unit cost.
Misc 1	Enter, or click to select, the direct miscellaneous 1 unit cost.
Misc 2	Enter, or click to select, the direct miscellaneous 2 unit cost.

Burden Unit Costs

If you modify one or more burden cost element values in this group box, burden costs are not automatically recalculated upon saving. If you modify direct costs, but not any burden cost elements, burden cost is recalculated normally, and all inventory values will be updated.

Field	Description
Material	Enter, or click to select, the burden material unit cost amount to be allocated.
Labor	Enter, or click to select, the burden labor unit cost amount to be allocated.
Subcontract	Enter, or click to select, the burden subcontract unit cost amount to be allocated.
Misc 1	Enter, or click to select, the burden miscellaneous 1 unit cost amount to be allocated.
Misc 2	Enter, or click to select, the burden miscellaneous 2 unit cost amount to be allocated.
Unit Cost	The total of all cost elements entered is displayed as the total unit cost for this part. This unit cost is also displayed in the Unit Cost field on the Details tab for this adjustment.
Load Cost	Click this button to load all the Cost elements for a particular part.
