Use the fields on this tab to provide basic information about the ECN, including ECN type, class, and status.
Enter, or click to select, the ECN type. This field must contain a valid type from the Manage Engineering Change Types screen. This can be used to determine the ECN Approval Process. For example, if the ECN Type option is selected on the Configure Engineering Change Notices Settings screen, and you populate the Type field with an ECN Type code that is assigned to an approval process (in the Engineering Change Types subtask on the Manage Engineering Change Approval Processes screen), that approval process code will default into the Approval Process field for the ECN and cannot be modified.
From the drop-down, select an ECN class, either I, 1.5, or II. You can use this to determine the ECN approval process. For example, if the ECN Class option is selected on the Configure Engineering Change Notices Settings screen, and you populate the Class field with an Engineering Change Class code (for example, Class I, Class 1.5, or Class II) that is already selected for an approval process (in the Engineering Change Classifications group box on the Manage Engineering Change Approval Processes screen), that approval process code will default into the Approval Process field for the ECN and cannot be modified.
Enter, or click to select, a code for indicate the priority of the engineering change. This field must contain a valid priority code from the Manage Engineering Change Priorities screen. The default value loads from the Manage Engineering Change Types screen.
This field displays the date on which the ECN originated. Enter, or click to select, another date if necessary.
Enter, or click to select, a code to identify the reason for the engineering change. This field must contain a valid reason code from Manage Engineering Change Reasons screen.
Select this check box to put the ECN on hold.
This field displays the selected ECN's status. Valid values are:

Implemented

Rejected
Void
Once you have submitted an ECN for approval (that is, the Status field is set to In Approval) on the Manage Engineering Change Notices screen, you can modify it only on the Approve Engineering Change Notices screen or on Update Approved Engineering Change Notices screen. If the Approval Action is set to Rejected, or if there is an Approval Title whose Action Code is Rejected in the ECN Approval Detail subtask, you can modify the ECN on the Manage Engineering Change Notices screen and resubmit it for approval.
You can update this field only when you have selected the Manual option in the Approval Process Assignment group box on the Configure Engineering Change Notices Settings screen. In this case, this field will default with the Approval Process assigned on the Configure Engineering Change Notices Settings screen. However, you can enter, or click to select, an approval process this ECN will be required to pass through before implementation. This field of up to eight alphanumeric characters must have a valid approval process ID from Manage Engineering Change Approval Processes screen. The approval process code can also default based on the Type, Class, or Organization that you enter and the option that is selected in the Approval Process Assignment group box on the Configure Engineering Change Notices Settings screen. For example, if the ECN Type option is selected on the Configure Engineering Change Notices Settings screen, and you populate the Type field with an ECN Type code that is assigned to an approval process (in the Engineering Change Types subtask on the Manage Engineering Change Approval Processes screen), that approval process code will default into this field and cannot be modified.
This field displays the selected ECN's revision number.
Use the fields in this group box to enter basic information about the ECN originator.
Enter, or click to select, the employee ID of the person originating the ECN. This field must contain a valid employee ID from the Manage Employee Information screen in Costpoint Employee.
Enter the name of the person originating the ECN in this field. The default is from the employee ID.
Enter, or click to select, the organization to which the ECN is linked. If you have selected Org Security in Costpoint System Administration for Costpoint Engineering Change Notices, this field is required. The Organization can be used to determine the ECN Approval Process. For example, if the Organization option is selected on the Configure Engineering Change Notices Settings screen, and you populate the Organization field with an organization that is assigned to an approval process (in the Link Organizations subtask of the Manage Engineering Change Approval Processes screen), that approval process code will default into the Approval Process field for the ECN and cannot be modified.
Enter telephone number of the ECN originator. Enter the extension in the field to the right of the telephone number. The default value is based on the employee ID and the ECN Originator Phone Type Code field on the Configure Engineering Change Notices Settings screen.
