Use this screen to define the work centers that make up your production processes. Work centers can be a group of machines and/or a group of employees responsible for building products.
Capacity planning is done at the work center level. The anticipated workload of each manufacturing order is measured by work center and compared to the stated capacity of the work center.
Set up this screen when initializing Costpoint Routings and maintain it whenever changes are made to work centers.
Enter the ID of the new work center, or use Lookup to select an existing work center. You can maintain work center IDs in the Work Center Types screen.
Enter the name of the new work center.
Select this checkbox to indicate whether the work center is active.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the ID of the organization with which this work center is associated. The organization name is displayed to the right of the Org Abbrev field.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the organizational abbreviation with which this work center is associated. This field may already display the abbreviation associated with the organization ID you selected in the Organization field.
Enter the number of employees typically used at the work center.
Enter the number of machines used at the work center.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the ID of the supervisor assigned to the work center. You can define supervisors in the Supervisors screen in Costpoint Production Control.
Use this drop-down box to select the type of process that is performed at the work center.
Use this drop-down box to select the work center type. You can establish work center types in the Work Center Types screen.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the key resource consumed by this work center.
Enter the date on which the rate and capacity information in the row will become effective.
Enter the default hourly labor rate for setups in this work center.
Enter the default hourly labor rate for manufacturing in this work center.
Enter the target burden rate to be applied to labor dollars in this work center. When you enter a new line, this field defaults with the Default Target Burden Labor Rate from the Routings Settings screen.
This field displays the typical hours per week that are available for production, net of efficiency, and utilization. This field will display the product of the Weekly Gross Hours, Efficiency, and Utilization fields. You can enter the Weekly Net Hours, Efficiency, and Utilization values, and the system will automatically calculate the Weekly Gross Hours.
Enter a percentage that describes how well standard hours are met when this work center is operating.
Enter the percentage that describes how often the work center is operating during shifts.
Enter the typical hours per week that the work center is available for production. This field defaults with the Default Shift Hours from the Routings Settings screen multiplied by the weekly shifts, and will automatically calculate based on adjustments made to the Weekly Net Hours, Efficiency, and Utilization fields.
This column displays the sum of the daily shifts.
Enter the typical number of shifts for a particular day.
Select this pushbutton to open the Work Center Detail subtask, where you can enter specialized information about the work center.
Select this pushbutton to open the Equipment subtask, where you can specify the equipment used in the work center.
Select this pushbutton to open the Work Center Labor Classification subtask, where you can specify the labor classifications used in the work center.
Select this pushbutton to open the Work Center Maintenance subtask, where you can specify the maintenance performed on the work center.
Select this pushbutton to open the Alternate Work Centers subtask, where you can specify other work centers that can be used in place of the selected work center.
