File Restore

Use the Restore utility to take the data from backup files and bring it into the Cobra database. You can restore only files to which you have access.

You can also restore data from the backup files through the API using Restore API process.

When you are restoring a project, you can also restore calendar files, code files (including codes assigned to control account fields, codes on control accounts and work packages, codes on resources, and codes on rate files), rate files (including rate files assigned to classes), and resource files.

Note: Cobra requires an exclusive lock on a project to successfully restore backup files. If the backup files are being restored to a project that is locked by another user, Cobra will not proceed with the Restore process.

Restoring Backup Files

You can restore backup files that use the BK and legacy file extensions.

When you restore a legacy backup file, Cobra informs you that it needs to create a copy of the legacy backup file with a BK file extension before it proceeds with the Restore process.

Cobra proceeds to create the converted BK file that it will use to run the Restore process. Cobra uses the following format for the default file name of the converted BK file: <Legacy backup filename with extension>.<Cobra BK file extension>.

The converted BK file extension is based on the legacy backup file. For example, when you restore Demo Advanced.CMP, the converted BK filename is Demo Advanced.CMP.BKCP.

Attention: For more information on file extension, see File Extensions.
