Changing a paycheck

Note: If an employee changed a timesheet since you set up the payroll, and you need to reflect those changes in the paycheck for that payroll, see changing hours on a paycheck.

If you need to change the bank account or routing number for a direct deposit, change it in the setup information for the employee, delete the paycheck, and then add the paycheck back. The new bank account or routing number then appears on the paycheck.

To change a paycheck

  1. If you are not already viewing the Paycheck List window, from the > Manage menu, click Payroll.
  2. Multi-company only. Select a company.
  1. Click the payroll that contains the paycheck you want to view, and click Edit.
  2. From the Paycheck List window, click the paycheck you want to change, and click Edit. The Paycheck tab of the Edit Paycheck window appears.

The Paycheck tab of the Edit Paycheck window is a view-only summary of the employee's paycheck. It contains the information that appears on the employee's paycheck stub. You use the other tabs on this window to make changes to the paycheck. A negative net pay is highlighted in red.

  • An asterisk (*) next to the Accrual pay type indicates the Cap at Limit method is used.
  • The word max indicates the Cap at Limit method is used and the max number of accrual hours has been reached.
  1. Depending on the information you want to change, click the Pays, Taxes, Deductions, Direct Deposits, or Fringes tab.
  2. Change the paycheck information, as needed.
Note: If the employee has a percent of taxable deduction, you cannot change any of the deductions or fringes here; you must change them in the employee setup.
