Field Description
User ID

The ID that your system administrator has set up for your use. Open Plan remembers the user ID from the last time Open Plan was used and automatically enters that user ID in this field. If this user ID is not the one you wish to use, replace with the correct one.

Enter the user ID that your system administrator has set up in PPM Administrator.

Note: Entering a blank user ID or password is not allowed; you must provide valid credentials that meet your system's defined requirements.

In addition, you can connect to the same data source using different credentials while you are logged on to Open Plan by selecting Login from the File menu and entering another User ID and password on the Open Plan Login dialog box.

You can change your password using the Change Password dialog box.

When the Authentication Mode field is set to Windows Authentication in PPM Administrator, this link is not available.

Data Source Select a data source from the drop-down list. You cannot leave this field blank.

If you hold down the Ctrl key while clicking Login, Open Plan displays the Data Sources dialog box where you can add and edit your available data sources. In addition, you can connect to a different (existing) data source while you are logged on to Open Plan by selecting Login from the File menu. Open Plan displays the Login dialog box without requiring you to exit the application and log in again.

If, after you click Login, Open Plan issues a message that your login information is invalid, reenter your user ID and password, and click Login again. If Open Plan still does not start, check with your System Administrator. There are several possible causes for this situation including:

  • There may be an interruption of network services.
  • You may not be properly registered as a valid user of the active data source.
  • You may have entered an incorrect password.

Your system administrator will be able to determine the cause of the problem and take steps to correct it.

You can change the active data source (new or existing) before logging in. To do so, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking Login. This will display the Data Sources dialog box that you can use to select a different data source for this session. In addition, you can select a different (existing) data source while you are logged in to Open Plan by selecting Login from the File menu. This will display the Open Plan Login dialog box.

Attention: For more information on how to create and manage data sources, see the Deltek PPM Datasource Management Tool section of the Deltek PPM Administrator Help System
Use Briefcasing Data Source Select this option if you want Open Plan to open your briefcasing data source instead of your main data source.

The briefcasing feature of Open Plan allows you to check out a project, work on it, and then check it back in. Checking out a project is like opening a project in Exclusive mode in that while you have the project checked out, you are the only person who can save changes to it.

Windows Authentication Select this option if you are logged in to Windows with your network login credentials and you want to log in to Open Plan using Windows Authentication.

This option is controlled by the Authentication Mode field in PPM Administrator.

If Authentication Mode is set to Basic:
  • Windows Authentication is hidden.
  • User ID and Password are enabled.
If Authentication Mode is set to Mixed:
  • Windows Authentication is enabled and selected (by default).
  • User ID and Password are disabled when Windows Authentication is selected.
  • User ID and Password are enabled when Windows Authentication is not selected.
If Authentication Mode is set to Windows:
  • Windows Authentication is disabled and selected.
  • User ID and Password are disabled and not selected.
