Field Description
Insert into project

Select this option to instruct Open Plan to insert the project template as activities directly into the currently open project.

Insert Under New or Existing Subproject

Select this option to instruct Open Plan to add the project template to the project as an internal subproject. Open Plan handles this in one of three ways:

  • If you leave the text field blank, Open Plan uses the name of the project template as the subproject name.
  • If you enter a unique name in the text field, Open Plan uses this name for the subproject.
  • If you enter the name of an existing activity, the project template is added as a child of the activity.
Insert as External Subproject

Select this option to instruct Open Plan to add the project template to the project as an external subproject. You can enter a name to use for the external subproject in the master project (Subproject Name field) as well as enter a name to use for the external subproject itself (Project Name field). If you leave the fields blank, Open Plan uses the name of the project template for both by default.

Number of times to add selected template to project

A project template can be added multiple times to the same project. Each instance is given a unique subproject name so as not to cause conflicts. For example, assume you are adding the project template Sample to a project five times. The subprojects will automatically be named Sample01, Sample02, Sample03, and so on. The activities within the subprojects will also be given unique IDs using the same naming scheme.
