Use the fields and options to configure the Activity tab.
Contents
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| ID | This read-only field displays the activity ID. This field can be modified in the Activity Details dialog box. |
| Desc. | This is a read-only field that displays the activity description. This field can be modified in the Activity Details dialog box. |
| Status | This is a read-only field that displays the status of the activity: Planned, In Progress, or Complete. |
| Duration | This is the activity duration. This value should represent the most likely duration for the activity.
Durations may use any of the following duration units:
While a duration may contain decimal values (for example, 4.5 D), you cannot enter duration using mixed duration units. (For example, 4D4H is not allowed.) Open plan interprets an activity with a blank duration field as having zero duration. You can use decimal values for durations (for example, 1.5d), but you cannot mix date formats by entering durations such as 1w2d. If you enter a duration that is not consistent with fixed target start and finish dates for the activity, Open Plan will use the duration implied by the target dates when performing time analysis and resource scheduling calculations. You can avoid having to specify a time unit when entering durations by assigning a default duration unit for a project through the Preferences tab on the Project Properties dialog box. If the activity type is Subproject, Hammock, Effort Driven, or External Subproject, Open Plan ignores any value you enter in this field and recalculates the duration each time you perform time analysis. |
| Activity Physical % Complete | This is a read-only field that displays the percentage from the Activity Physical % Complete field on the Resources tab. |
| Time Now | This is the date (sometimes referred to as the status date) for which all the progress data in a project has been reported. It is used for statusing purposes only and does not have any relationship to the actual current calendar date. |
| Baseline Start | The date stored in the BSTART field in the first currently selected baseline. |
| Actual Start | The actual start date for the activity. If the current status is Planned and you enter a date in the Actual Start field that is before Time Now, Open Plan treats the activity as in progress. |
| Baseline Finish | The date stored in the BFINISH field in the first currently selected baseline. |
| Actual Finish | The date on which the activity actually finished. This date should be before Time Now.
Open Plan ignores any actual finish date that is later than Time Now. When you enter an actual finish date that is before Time Now, Open Plan calculates the following values:
|
| Expected Finish | The date on which an incomplete activity is expected to finish. This date should be on or after Time Now.
Open Plan treats an activity with an expected finish date that is before Time Now as complete. Open Plan ignores an expected finish date that is on or later than Time Now if any of the following conditions exist:
|
| As Planned | With this option selected, Open Plan calculates progress based on the original duration, Time Now, and information in the Actual Start and Actual/Expected Finish fields. |
| Remaining Duration | This field represents the duration remaining for the activity. Open Plan uses any value you enter in this field to calculate the values in the Elapsed Duration and Percent Complete fields. |
| Elapsed Duration | This field represents the amount of the original duration that has elapsed. Open Plan uses any value you enter in this field to calculate the values in the Remaining Duration and Percent Complete fields. The Elapsed Duration progress type is exported by updating MSP Actual Duration. |
| Percent Complete | This field represents the percent of the original activity duration that is complete. Open Plan uses any value you enter in this field to calculate the values in the Remaining Duration and Elapsed Duration fields. |
| Complete | This field indicates that the activity is complete. |
