Approve Dependent Elections Subtask

Use this subtask to view and approve dependent benefit elections that were made by the employee during the open enrollment period in ESS.

This subtask is enabled if the Dependent Elections field is Y (Yes) for the selected line on the main screen.

Table Window

This table window displays all dependent elections that the employee assigned during the open enrollment period in ESS. You can change only the Approved field in this table window.

Field Description
Approved by HR

This check box is available only when the benefit plan requires approval (Require HR Approval in ESS check box is selected for the benefit plan on the Enrollment Coverage Rules tab of the Manage Benefit Plans screen). Otherwise, this check box is disabled.

If the benefit plan’s Require HR Approval in ESS check box is selected, and your ESS Administrator approved the ESS election, this check box displays as selected. However, you can still change this setting.

When you select this check box for the selected benefit option line and save the record, the application will select the Approved by HR check box in the Approve Dependent Elections subtask for all dependent election lines.

EOI Status

If applicable, this field displays the dependent’s Evidence of Insurability (EOI) status. You can change the option in this drop-down field with the following EOI statuses:

  • Not Required
  • Approved
  • Required
  • Denied
EOI Received Date The date the EOI document was received by the Human Resources department. This is only enabled when the selected EOI status is either Approved or Denied.
Dependent Name

This field displays the name of the dependent that the employee assigned to the benefit plan.

New Coverage Start Date

This field displays the start date of the new coverage.

New Coverage Option

This field displays the coverage option assigned to the dependent. The value in this field defaults from the New Coverage Option field for the selected line on the main screen.

New Coverage Option Description

This field displays the name of the new coverage option.

New Coverage Amount

This field displays the new coverage amount. The value in this field defaults from the New Coverage Amount field for the selected line on the main screen.
