Search for Documents Using the Search Expression Builder

Use the Search Expression Builder to construct advanced search expressions. You can specify required words, phrases, and optional words in your search. You can also exclude certain words.

To search for documents using the Search Expression Builder:

  1. On the header bar, click Information Zone.
  2. In the Search Documents panel, click Search Builder.
  3. On the Search Expression Builder window, specify the search criteria that you want to search against.
    The following options are available:
    Field Description
    Exact Title Match Enter one or more words or phrases to search against document titles only. This option uses a wildcard search, and it will return documents that contain all words in the same order as you enter them.
    Note: You cannot specify any of the other fields when you use this option.
    Search In Select the scope of your search: All fields (document titles, content, and descriptions), document titles only, or document content only.
    Required Words Enter one or more words that must be present in document titles, content, or descriptions. If a document does not match all of these words, then it is not returned in the search results.
    Optional Words Enter one or more optional words to include in your search. If a document matches one or more of these words, it is returned in the search results. If a document does not match any of these words, but it complies with other search criteria that you specify, then it is still returned.
    Excluded Words Enter any words that you want to exclude in your search. If a document matches one or more of these words, it is not returned in the search results.
    Phrase Enter any phrases to include in your search. A document must match all words in the exact same order to be returned in the search results.
    Note: You can specify one or more of these fields in order to construct a search expression.
