System Variable 750: Time Entry Description: Enable External Description Field

Use this System Variable to specify whether the Work Description or Description field is required on time entries. You can copy external descriptions into Price Quotes and invoices when inserting expenditures from a job.

You can set either field as required on the individual jobs or tasks:
  • You can make this field required for individual jobs in Jobs > Job Properties Sidebar > Job Finance Settings.
  • You can make this field required for individual tasks within a job in Tasks > Tasks > Task Card > Basic Settings.

You can also make the Work Description or Description field required on time entries that are not related to tasks.

The Work Description or Description field is displayed in the following reports:
  • Report 68 – Time Expenditures
  • Report 69 – Time Sheet Employee Job List
  • Report 109 – Time Sheet with Descriptions
  • Report 110 – Time Sheet Description
  • Report 179 – Time Summary: Customer, Job, Employee
  • Report 192 – Time Entry Overview
  • Report 206 – Support Status Report
  • Report 368 – Clients Job Cost Details
  • Report 471 – Task Time Use Summary
  • Report 479 – Time Entry with Overtime Rates
  • Report 557 – Expanded Time Summary: Customer, Job, Employee
  • Report 559 – Task Time Use/Price Summary

This System Variable is disabled by default.

It may be necessary to perform a refresh when modifying System Variable values.
