Dashboards

Use Dashboards in WorkBook to view internal and external data all in one place. Dashboards are a convenient tool to view and access databoard and external website information through widgets.

To use Dashboards, you must have access to Dashboards as defined in the Employee cross-company access submodule under Settings.

Access to Dashboards

If you are an administrator, you automatically have read-write permission to all of the dashboards that you have created, as well as those that other users create. These actions include viewing and deleting dashboards that belong to other users.

If you are an Advanced User, you can share your dashboards with other users. These non-administrator users have read-only access to the dashboards that you share.

If you are a non-administrator user, you have read-write permission only to the dashboards that you create. However, you can view other users' dashboards if they add you to their dashboard's access list (share their dashboard with you).

The areas of the Dashboard include:
  • The Dashboard sidebar, which contains a list of all available dashboards in your WorkBook account.
Note: You can expand or collapse the sidebar by clicking Collapse .
  • The dashboard pane, where you can view the contents of any dashboard that you select from dashboard sidebar.
  • The Search field, where you can filter on dashboard names and users.
  • The filter option, which you can set to show all dashboards (the ones that you create, as well as those that other users share with you), your dashboards, and all active dashboards (inactive dashboards are hidden from the list).
  • The toolbar, which contains the Dashboard Overview , Toggle Menu , and the navigation buttons.

The toggle menu displays or hides the Dashboard sidebar.

  • The Widgets menu, which lets you add widgets to use for displaying data on the dashboard pane. WorkBook provides the following types of widgets: DataboardView, iFrame Page, E-learning Followup, and Intelligence.
  • The Dashboard Options menu, which provides options for creating, duplicating, customizing, and deleting dashboards.
Note: You can access the same options when you right-click a dashboard on the list or a widget on the pane.
  • The Access tab (within the Dashboard Settings dialog box), where you define the users that can view your dashboards.

System Variables

The Dashboard module uses the following System Variables to define storage-related settings:
  • 979 (Storage Provider subfolder for files saved to the Whiteboard): Define what Storage Provider subfolder to use when adding files to the Whiteboard.
  • 980 (Storage Provider for files saved to the Whiteboard): Select what Storage Provider to use when adding files to the Whiteboard.
