Actions Bar for the Projects Form

Use options on the Actions bar of the Projects form for actions that you routinely perform, such as copying a project record or adding a touchpoint.

The set of options available on the Actions bar may change depending on what work breakdown structure (WBS) element is currently selected.

Commonly Used Actions

Click the buttons on the Actions bar to access commonly performed actions.

Field Description
Add Touchpoint Select this option to add a touchpoint (a simple activity such as a meeting or a phone call) for the currently displayed record.
Qualify Contact This option displays when:
  • Your enterprise has access to CRM Plus.
  • The Enable Lead Qualification global CRM setting is set to Yes in Settings > CRM.
  • The contact is a New Lead. For more information about how to set up a default status in My Preferences, see the Defaults Tab of the My Preferences Dialog Box.
Click this option to qualify the contact if it meets your enterprise's requirements and is interested in doing business with your organization.

When a contact is qualified, the Qualified Status field on the Summary pane updates to display Qualified. You can change this status if the contact moves to another phase in the process.

Other Actions

Click this menu to perform other tasks.

Field Description
Copy Project Select this option to copy the currently selected project. Vantagepoint displays the Copy Project form.
Copy Phase Select this option to copy the currently selected phase.

Add Task Select this option to add a task to the currently selected phase. Vantagepoint displays the New Task form.
Disqualify Contact If you decide that a qualified contact is no longer a good candidate for a project, click Disqualify Contact to disqualify the contact. This action keeps the contact in the database for future use.

On the Disqualify Contact dialog box, use Status Reason to specify the reason for disqualifying the contact and click Disqualify. The contact's status is automatically changed to inactive and the status reason is listed in the Contact Summary.

Create a Linked Promotional Project Select this option to display the Create Linked Promotional Project dialog box and add a project for tracking the costs incurred in pursuing the currently selected regular project. The promotional project is linked to the regular project, but it is a separate project with its own WBS and other properties.

If the project is not a regular project, already has a linked promotional project, or is assigned to a pipeline stage that is not designated as an in pursuit stage, this option is not available.

If the currently selected project has more than one WBS level, this option is available only at the project level.

Add Proposal Properties Select this option to display the New Proposal dialog box and begin adding a new proposal for the project.
Import GovWin IQ Opportunities Select this option to connect to your GovWin IQ instance and import one or more opportunity records from GovWin IQ as in-pursuit projects in Vantagepoint.
This option displays if GovWin IQ Integration is enabled on the GovWin IQ form (Utilities > Integrations > GovWin IQ) and if Vantagepoint is set up to use auto-numbering for project numbers. (If auto-numbering is not implemented for projects, this option is not available. In that case, you can import opportunities from GovWin IQ only one at a time by selecting From GovWin IQ in How to Create Project on the New Project form.)
Project Settings Select this option to display the Project Settings dialog box. In that dialog box, you can select display options for the project search results list and the project structure.
Design If your security role gives you access, select this option to open the Screen Designer, which you can use to add tabs, grids, fields, and field properties. The Screen Designer is composed of two sections: a canvas area (on the left) that lets you view the design changes that you make to the form, and a list of tabs, fields, and properties (on the right) that can be defined and added to the screen. Click the in the upper right corner of a field or tab to remove it from the form.
Delete Select this option to delete a project, phase, or task. If any records outside the Projects hub reference the project, phase, or task, you cannot delete it. Otherwise, Vantagepoint prompts you to confirm that you want to proceed with the deletion. If the project, phase, or task has any associated revenue forecast or planning data, Vantagepoint warns you that this data will also be deleted.

If the project, phase, or task has schedule dependencies, those dependencies for the selected level and its child levels are removed.

If you delete a regular project that is linked to a promotional project or a promotional project that is linked to a regular project, the other project in the linked pair is not automatically deleted. To remove both projects, you must delete them individually.

Print

Select this option to display the Print Options menu. Depending on which option you select, Vantagepoint displays either the Reporting dialog box or the Search dialog box that allows you to specify the record or record selection you want to print before generating and printing the report. See Select a Print Option to Print Records for a Report.
