Use this procedure to find a record quickly without specifying a search type. You can do this if you have part of a valid key code such as a client number or an employee's last name.

To perform a quick search:
Click inside the Search field at the upper-right corner of a displayed record.
Enter either a single character (for example, the letter "a" or the number 3) or a string of characters ("ab" or "13") and press ENTER.
If you enter a single character, PM Compass searches for every record that starts with that character.
If you enter more than one character, PM Compass searches for every record that contains that string of characters.
For whole word searches, enter a space before and after the word to search for only that word. You can also enter a wildcard expression.
If the information you have entered matches a value in the PM Compass database, the corresponding record displays.
Alternatively, you can click beside the Search field to display the corresponding search dialog box containing a result list that satisfies your criteria.
