Advanced Search Operators

When you select Advanced in the Display Type field, the Search Criteria grid with the Operator column displays, allowing you to select an operator that you will use in creating an advanced search. The list varies by search type.

This section only lists the operators that you commonly use when performing the advanced search.

Operator

Description

Equals

Select this option if the value of the field to the left of the operator is equal to the value in the Search List column, which is to the right of an operator. You can use this operator for quantities, codes, or classifications.

In List

Select this option if the value of the field to the left of the operator is included in the value of the Search List column. You can use this operator for codes or classifications but not for amounts or dates.

Starts With

Select this option if the value specified in the field to the left of the operator starts with the value in the Search List column. You can use this operator for codes or classifications but not for amounts or dates.

Contains

Select this option if the value specified in the field to the left of the operator exists anywhere in the value of the Search List column. You can use this operator for codes or classifications but not for amounts or dates.

Greater Than

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator is greater than value in the Search List column. You can use this operator for amounts or dates but not for codes or classifications.

Less Than

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator is less than value in the Search List column. You can use this operator for amounts or dates but not for codes or classifications.

Greater or Equal

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator is either greater than or equal to the value in the Search List column. You can use this operator for amounts or dates but not for codes or classifications.

Less or Equal

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator is either less than or equal to the value in the Search List column. You can use this operator for amounts or dates but not for codes or classifications.

Not Equal

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator is not equal to the value in the Search List column. You can use this operator for amounts, codes, or classifications.

Checked

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator is checked. You can use this operator for codes or classifications but not for amounts or dates.

Not Checked

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator is not checked. You can use this operator for codes or classifications but not for amounts or dates.

Not in the List

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator does not exist in the value of the Search List column. You can use this operator for codes or classifications but not for amounts or dates.

Not Contain

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator does not exist anywhere in the value of the Search List column. You can use this operator for codes or classifications but not for amounts or dates.

Empty

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator is NULL. You can use this operator for codes, classifications, or dates but not for amounts.

Not Empty

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator is not NULL. You can use this operator for codes, classifications, or dates but not for amounts.

Between

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator is between the two values specified in the Search List column. You can use this operator for amounts or dates but not for codes or classifications.

Is Me

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator matches a specific user ID (or employee ID). You can use this operator specifically for Report Favorites and saved searches.

You can only use this operator for username-type searches. If the search field includes "name," an error message displays.

Is Not Me

Select this option if the value in the field to the left of the operator does not match a specific user ID (or employee ID).

You can only use this operator for username-type searches. If the search field includes "name," an error message displays.
