Default Processes in the System Queue

The System Queue lists processes submitted to the process server such as Do Required Action. You can create as many of these queues as you want in the EPM Security Administrator.

The processes listed here are part of the default data.

Delete Old Sessions

In EPM SA (Configuration » System Settings » Servers tab), you can specify that you want to keep process history and error reports for X number of days. The Delete Old Sessions process deletes the historical process history and error reports based on these EPM SA settings.

This process is located in the System Queue and runs daily at 3am. It is part of the default data and does not display in Alerts » Scheduled Alerts. You cannot change its configuration.

Delete Expired Archive Reports

When you create a report archive, you determine how many hours the archive should remain in the database using the Archive Report dialog box. This scheduled process runs nightly and deletes any old archive reports.

This process is located in the System Queue and runs daily at 2am. It is part of the default data and does not display in Alerts » Scheduled Alerts. You cannot change its configuration.

Terminate Open Plan Sessions Created by PM Compass

You define the credentials for PM Compass to connect to Open Plan in EPM SA (Configuration » System Settings » General tab). This username and password are only used for PM Compass integration. You can see the integration sessions in EPM SA (Products » Open Plan Professional » User tab). If a session with this username displays in EPM SA for more than 24 hours, it means that an integration process has failed. Since the user ID uses an Open Plan license, the Terminate Open Plan Sessions Created by PM Compass process removes the entry and frees up the license.

This process is located in the System Queue and runs daily at 2am. It is part of the default data and does not display in Alerts » Scheduled Alerts. You cannot change its configuration.

Notification of Long Running Processes

Under normal circumstances, when a process finishes or fails with a handled error, the status of the process in the Process Queue is updated.

This Notification of Long Running Processes process looks for jobs that have been running for more than 12 hours and notifies you so that you can check if they have hung or become inactive. It searches all servers and queues defined in EPM SA. When such a process is found, the system sends an email to the person who resolves workflow errors. The email includes the list of jobs that have been running in the process queue for more than 12 hours and steps to delete the entry in the Process Queue Manager, if needed.

When you receive the email, you should check for activity on the server to confirm if the process is still running. If it is no longer running, delete the entry in the Process Queue Manager. You will continue to get a daily email until you delete the processes in the Process Queue.

This process is located in the System Queue and runs daily at 2am. It is part of the default data and does not display in Alerts » Scheduled Alerts. You cannot change its configuration.

You can specify the User to Resolve Workflow Failures on the PM Compass System Settings General tab. (Administration » System Settings » General tab).

Check for Locked Projects Linked to Primavera P6 Schedules

When the integration is running and the Process Server stops, project locks may be left open. These locks prevent further integration from being performed and reduce the number of concurrent processes that can run.

This process checks projects linked to Primavera P6 for any open locks that have been running for more than 4 hours. If any are found, PM Compass emails the person who resolves workflow failures.

The process is set by default to run at 2am each morning; however, you can change the time by clicking Detail on the process grid toolbar and editing the Process Queue Detail dialog box Start After field.

You can view the locks in EPM Security Administrator. For steps to view and clear the locks, see Clear Locks on Projects Linked to Primavera P6 Schedules.
