Example: Schedule Alert

Sample Task: Check every day to see if variance is beyond the allowable thresholds. If it is, send out a dashboard message to the CAM.

  1. Navigate to Administration » Alerts » Scheduled Alerts.

  2. Set Area to Projects.

  3. After selecting the area, you need to create a new alert for the control account. The alert table is set to Control Account and you need to supply the description.

  4. Specify the conditions. In this case, the condition is set as “If the Budget to Date exceeds 1,000,000”.

  5. After specifying the description and the condition of the alert, you need to specify the recurrence schedule of the alert by clicking the Schedule button in the Alerts grid to display the Schedule dialog box.

  6. Since the Control Account needs to be checked every day, the alert is set as recurring, the recurrence type is set to daily, and the alert is set to run every 6:00 AM.

  7. After setting up the alert, add an action to the alert in the Actions grid. In this case, a dashboard alert is sent to the CAM when the alert condition is satisfied. To setup the dashboard alert, click Insert » Dashboard Alert to display the Dashboard Alert Configuration Dialog Box.

  8. Configure the contents of the dashboard message and specify who will receive the message.

  9. Click OK to return to the main alerts screen where the Description can now be filled.

  10. Click Save to save the Scheduled Alert.
