Compute/Print Pool Rates

Use this screen to calculate indirect rates and allocation amounts for a pool or a sequence of pools within a given allocation group.

For pools that are not service centers, indirect rates are calculated and stored in this screen, allocation amounts are updated on the Manage Allocation Journal screen, and a Statement of Indirect Expenses is created. For service center pools, allocation amounts are updated on the Manage Allocation Journal screen. A Service Center Cost report is available as a print option on the Manage Allocation Journal screen.

Costpoint calculates indirect rates for non-service center pools for pools within any allocation group; however, this screen is updated with rates for allocation group 1 only. Additionally, Costpoint posts journals and updates project burden cost for allocation group 1 only. For all other allocation groups, Costpoint performs rate calculations and creates a Statement of Indirect Expenses, but no other processing is performed.

Use this screen whenever actual indirect rates are calculated or whenever service center cost allocations are required. You can print Statement of Indirect Expense reports for both the currently calculated pools and previously calculated pools. Select the Rebuild of Rate Application Table Required check box on the Manage Allocation Groups screen before running this process. If you need to rebuild the rate application table, run that process before computing rates in this screen. Run this screen only after posting all costs for the period. You can run this process as many times as needed.

Note: To print a Statement of Indirect Expenses for current pool amounts, you must calculate first.

When you run this screen and the application calculated pool rates that may cause an arithmetic overflow error, Costpoint displays an information message detailing the affected pools and their rate types and values. A sample message looks like this:

The pools listed below have rates that create an arithmetic overflow error. Please correct these issues or do not run these specific pools:

Pool: 1, Current Period Rate: 9.99999999, YTD Rate: -9.99999999

Pool: 5, Current Period Rate: 9.99111111, YTD Rate: -9.99111111

You can Exclude Problem Pools When Running Compute/Print Pool Rates or correct the issue by doing any of the following:
