Dir Hrs Ceil Subtask
Use this subtask to impose a ceiling on the number of hours that are used in the calculation of revenue and billings, for each labor category for a project.
These ceilings are used in the calculation of any Loaded Labor Hours formulas. You cannot enter separate hours ceilings for revenue and billings.
Enter ceiling hours here at a labor category level ONLY. These ceilings are separate from any ceilings that are required at an Employee/Labor Category level or a Vendor/Labor Category level, and entry of ceilings at both levels could cause a conflict.
Use this subtask to initially set up ceilings on hours that can be used in the calculation of billing and revenue. Complete this subtask after you have set up the project on the Basic Info tab and after you have set up the PLCs on the Manage Project Labor Categories (PLC) screen. Additional maintenance of the data on this screen is required only if modifications or additions must be made.
This subtask is also available as a standalone application: Manage Hour Ceilings.

Direct Hours Ceilings
Field | Description |
---|---|
Labor Category |
Enter, or click to select, the Project Labor Categories (PLCs) to which ceiling hours are applied. The only PLCs that are valid for data entry in this field are those that were assigned to the project on the Link Project Labor Categories to Projects screen. If you assigned PLCs to the top-level project on the Link Project Labor Categories to Projects screen and you selected the Use Top Level Workforce check box on the Basic Info tab for the project entered, only those PLCs that are assigned to the top-level project are valid for data entry in this field. If you did not assign PLCs either to the project or to the top level project and you selected the Use Top Level Workforce check box on the Basic Info tab, all PLCs that were defined on the Manage Project Labor Categories (PLC) screen are valid for data entry in this field. Please note that the Use Top Level Workforce check box on the Basic Info tab does not apply to ceilings. The revenue and billings programs do not look for ceilings at the top level of the project if this check box is selected. The Use Top Level Workforce check box applies only to PLC validation and defaulting. This is a required field. |
Labor Category Description |
This column displays the description of each PLC displayed in the Labor Category column. You have already defined global PLC descriptions on the Project Labor Categories (PLC) screen and you defined project-specific PLC descriptions on the Link Project Labor Categories to Projects screen. Note: If you defined a project-specific PLC description, it displays in this column. Otherwise, the global PLC description displays in this column by default.

Hours Ceiling |
Enter the ceiling hours for the labor category. Ceiling hours can be positive or zero. A blank is translated as a "0.00" hour ceiling. To ensure that no ceiling hours are imposed for a given labor category, make no entry on that row. |
