Overtime Options

Use the selections in this group box to allow overtime for salaried, FLSA Exempt employees and to set the overtime premium recast default pay type.

Field Description
Allow Overtime for Salaried, FLSA Exempt Employees

Select this checkbox to pay salaried, FLSA exempt employees for overtime hours worked; otherwise, an error condition exists at timesheet entry if a salaried, FLSA exempt employee charges to a pay type code designated as an overtime pay type (see the documentation for the Manage Pay Types screen). Normally, salaried, FLSA exempt employees do not receive compensated overtime.

Overtime Premium Recast Default Pay Type

Use this field to specify a company-wide pay type for recasting the overtime premium portion of labor cost to a separate timesheet line. Rules for which timesheet lines are eligible for overtime premium recasting are set up in the Manage Overtime Premium Recast Charge Codes screen. You can set up rules for different Project-Account-Group/Labor Group/Overtime Pay Type combinations and specify the Project, Account, and Organization to be used on the timesheet line that will be generated by the Recast Overtime Premium to Timesheet Lines utility.

This is the last of three levels of default the Recast Overtime Premium to Timesheet Lines utility will use to determine the pay type to which overtime premium will be recasted. The levels of default are as follows:

  1. The Recast Pay Type linked to the recasting criteria in the Manage Overtime Premium Recast Charge Codes screen.
  2. The Recast Pay Type linked to the overtime pay type in the Manage Pay Types screen.
  3. The Overtime Premium Recast Default Pay Type from this subtask screen (The Timesheet Overtime and Auto-Adjust Options subtask in the Configure Labor Settings screen)
The Recast Pay Type entered in this screen must be set up on the Manage Pay Types screen with:
  1. The Cost Only checkbox is selected.
  2. The Additional Amount set to 0.00.
  3. The Eligible for overtime premium recasting checkbox is not selected.
  4. The Calculate overtime premium on this pay type checkbox is not selected.
  5. ·The Allocate Compensated Overtime-Calculate overtime premium on this pay type checkbox is not selected.
  6. The Allocate Compensated Overtime-Allocate overtime premium to this pay type checkbox is not selected.
  7. The Non-Exempt checkbox is selected if you are recasting overtime premium for FLSA-non-exempt employees.
  8. The Exempt checkbox is selected if you are recasting overtime premium for FLSA-exempt employees.
  9. The Salaried checkbox is selected if you are recasting overtime premium for salaried employees.

Note that the factor of the Recast Pay Type will not be used to calculate the recast amount. The Recast Overtime Premium to Timesheet Lines utility will recast any portion of the overtime timesheet line's labor cost that's over a factor of 1.00. So, if your overtime pay type has a factor of 1.75, the labor cost for the recasted overtime premium will be based on a factor of 0.75.

Note:

Leave this field empty if you are not planning to use the Manage Overtime Premium Recast Charge Codes screen.
