Manage Financial Statements

Use this screen to design your company's balance sheet, income statement, statement of comprehensive income, and statement of cash flows.

To generate financial statements in Costpoint, you must have at least one primary balance sheet and one primary income statement. Costpoint comes with the following default financial statements: Balance Sheet (BALSHT), Income Statement (INCSTM), and Cash Flow (CSHFLOW). You can design as many different sets of financial statements as you need, but only one income statement and one balance sheet can be designated as primary.

You can print financial statements for any level of an organization. (You select the organization level as one of the parameters when you generate the financial statements. For example, if you print at organization level 2, and you have five level 2 organizations, you get five sets of financial statements, one for each level 2 organization.)

Unlike the balance sheet or the income statement, the statement of cash flows is always primary and cannot be redesigned.

Note: The UI profile you are assigned may have caused some fields to be hidden on your screen. For more information, contact your system administrator.

When to Use This Screen

Design the layout of the primary financial statements as part of your system initialization. Because each account in the Manage Accounts screen must belong to the primary balance sheet, the primary income statement, or the statement of cash flows, this is one of the first screens you should use as you set up Costpoint.

Enter the financial statement line for your net profit/loss on the Configure General Ledger Settings screen during initialization.

Before you can link accounts to the non-primary financial statement lines on the Link to Accounts subtask, you must first set up accounts on the Manage Accounts screen.

Warning: If you are changing project account groups, owning organizations for projects, revenue levels or formulas, or organization structures, you should wait to make these changes until final revenue has been computed for the fiscal year being closed. Making changes at the wrong time could result in incorrect calculations in the current fiscal year.

Income Statement, Statement of CI, and Balance Sheet Subtotals and Line Sequence

The major subtotal titles and group headings you set up here for an income statement, balance sheet, or statement of CI (comprehensive income) define the subtotals that display on the financial statements. The order in which you set up financial statement lines in this screen determines the order in which these lines display on your financial statements.

You must set up the financial statement line for profit/loss here before you can enter it in the FS Line on the Configure General Ledger Settings screen.

Statement of Cash Flow Subtotals and Line Sequence

The statement of cash flows subtotals by activity type. The order in which the lines default from your primary balance sheet and income statements defines the order in which they display under each activity type. You can change the system-generated statement of cash flows on the Manage Preliminary Cash Flows Statement screen.
