Submit an Absence Request

From a timesheet, you can enter and submit an absence request for time off from work.

Your access to this feature requires that you have Group, Company, or System access to the Timesheet application.

To enter and submit an absence request:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select My Stuff > Timesheet.
  2. On the Timesheets form, click Actions > Request New Absence.
    This action displays only if you have a benefit accrual code that has been configured for absence request approvals in Settings > Accounting > Absence Accrual.
  3. In the Type field on the Request Absence dialog box, select the type of absence that you are requesting, such as vacation or sick leave.
  4. Click +Add Request Date below the Date Request grid to specify a start and end date for your request.
    The request displays in the Date Request and Hours fields. You can change the prefilled number of hours in the Hours field as needed for a day or click at the right side of the row to delete the request.
    Dates that you select are color-coded to indicate their status. In the calendar, you can use and in the upper left and right corners of the section to view different months. Click to return to the current month.
    Total Hours Requested displays the sum of the requested hours. If the total hours requested exceed the current balance, these hours display in red.
    Current Balance displays the number of hours available for the selected absence type.
    If the number of hours in Total Absence Hours Requested exceeds the threshold of absence hours set in Settings > Time > Options, the Submit button becomes disabled.
  5. Enter any comments in the Comment field.
  6. Click Submit.
    The absence request is submitted for approval, and you are returned to the timesheet.
