Add a Proposal for a Project

Proposals are useful for winning new business. They contain all of the information about your firm, your employees, and your previous work that prospective clients want to know before they award a contract. As an alternative to using the Custom Proposals form (Proposals > Custom Proposals), use the Proposals tab on the Projects form to enter a project's background or history information, including project codes, descriptions, awards received, and associated proposals.

The Proposals tab displays only if the CRM module or the CRM Plus module is activated. You can only use the tab to add proposals if the CRM Plus module is activated. If the CRM module is activated but CRM Plus is not, the Description and Awards grids are available, but the Project Codes grid and the Proposals grid are not.

To add a proposal for a project from the Projects hub:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Hubs > Projects > Project.
  2. Select the project for which you want to add a new proposal.
    Note that the relationship between the current project and any associated proposals is reflected in both the Projects hub and Custom Proposals.
  3. Do either of the following:
    • On the Projects form Actions bar, click Other Actions > Add Proposal. (Note: This Add Proposal option is also available on some other Projects hub forms.)
    • Click the Proposals tab, and click +Add Proposal below the Proposals grid.

    The New Proposal dialog box displays with some entries defaulted from the project record.

    Proposal information applies to the project as a whole. If you navigate to a lower work breakdown structure (WBS) level, you can still make updates to proposal information, but those updates are not specific to the currently selected lower level WBS element.

  4. Complete the entries on the New Proposal dialog box, and click Continue to open the Proposal Builder.

  5. Use the Proposal Builder to further define proposal contents, and assemble and save the proposal document.

    The proposal is added to the Proposals grid in Projects > Proposals. Click on the proposal link to open the Proposal Builder.
