Journal Entries and QuickBooks Integration

Enter journal entries in either QuickBooks Online or Vantagepoint.

Journal Entries Entered in QuickBooks Online

Journal entries entered in QuickBooks Online are not updated in Vantagepoint since the general ledger and financial reports are maintained only in QuickBooks Online.

Journal Entries Entered in Vantagepoint

In Vantagepoint, enter journal entries and post them in Transaction Center > Transaction Entry > Journal Entries.

After you enter and post journal entries in Vantagepoint, they are added to QuickBooks Online the next time that the updating occurs between Vantagepoint and QuickBooks Online.

In QuickBooks Online, you see the Vantagepoint journal entries in the following locations:

  • Reports > Accountant Reports > Journal
  • Accounting > Chart of Accounts
  • Search (magnifying glass icon in the toolbar) > Advanced Search: In the transactions search field, select Journal Entries.
Warning: To reverse journal entries that were created in Vantagepoint, you must make the reversing entries in Vantagepoint, not in QuickBooks Online. The reversing entries are added to QuickBooks Online the next time the updating occurs between QuickBooks Online and Vantagepoint. Any reversing journal entries that you make in QuickBooks Online for journal entries that originate from Vantagepoint do not get updated in Vantagepoint when the updating occurs between QuickBooks Online and Vantagepoint.
