Contacts Associations Tab

Use the Associations tab to create and maintain lists of the other contacts and projects that are associated with a contact.

Note the following requirements if you associate a project record with the contact:
  • If the contact's Status is Inactive, Dormant, or Terminated, the Inactive Contact dialog box displays when you attempt to associate a project record. Use this dialog box to change the status to Active if needed.
  • If your enterprise uses CRM Plus and enables the Lead Qualification Process in Settings, the contact's Qualified Status must be Qualified before you can associate a project record. See Qualifying Contacts for additional information.

Much of the information for Vantagepoint is entered and displayed in grids on various forms. For information about using grids, see Working with Grids.

Projects Grid

This grid displays the projects with which the contact is associated. You can establish the association of a project with the contact by selecting the project in this grid or by selecting the contact in the Team Members grid on the Team tab for the project in the Projects hub. If you add, edit, or delete information in this grid, that change is also reflected in the Team Members grid for the project.

To add another project association, click + Add Project below the grid. To copy or delete a project on the grid, click , and select the desired option.

Field Description
Name

This column displays the name of the project. Click the name to display a tooltip containing project information: primary client, primary contact, role, description, and status. Click More in the tooltip to display the full project record on a separate browser tab. (If the row is in edit mode, you cannot display the tooltip. In that case, click anywhere outside the row to take it out of edit mode and then click the name.)

You can also use this field to search for and select a project for a new association. If the project has not yet been added, you can click + New Project at the bottom of the drop-down list and add the project.

Primary Client

This column displays the primary client associated with the project.

Primary Contact

This column displays the primary contact associated with the project. If your security access rights allow, you can select a new primary contact for the project, which changes the primary contact on the project record but does not remove the previous contact's association from the Our Team tab.

Type This column displays an icon for the type of firm: Client, Vendor, Competitor, or Government Agency. If you do not recognize the icon, hover over it to see the type of firm it represents.
Role Select the contact's role in relation to the project (Contracts Manager, Owner Contact, Primary Contact).
Role Description Enter a more detailed description of the contact's role in this field.
Stage This field displays the project's stage in the pipeline, such as Pending or Awarded.

This field only displays if the CRM, CRM Plus, or Resource Planning module is activated.

Status This field displays an icon representing the project's status: green for Active, gray for Inactive, and black for Dormant.
Hover over or select a row and click at the end of the row to remove the project association.
+ Add Project

To associate another project with the contact, click this link and select the project in Name.

Contacts Grid

This grid displays the contacts that are associated with the current contact record.

To add another contact association, click + Add Contact below the grid.

To copy or delete a contact on the grid, click , and select the desired option.

Field Description
Name

This column displays the name of the contact. Click the name to display a tooltip containing additional contact information. Click More in the tooltip to display the full contact record on a separate browser tab.

You can also use this field to search for and select a contact for a new association. If the contact has not yet been added, you can click + New Contact at the bottom of the drop-down list and add the contact.

Relationship Select the contact's relationship to the current record.
Relationship Description Enter a detailed description of the contact's relationship.
Hover over or select a row and click at the end of the row to remove the contact association.
+ Add Contact To associate another contact with the contact record, click this link and select the contact in Name.
