Tag a Project Content Item as a Best Practice

As an administrator or member of the office master access group, tag a project content item as a best practice to recommend it to other users and set it as a standard.

You can tag a project element, article, paragraph, option set item/pill, or product listing card. When you tag a project content item as a best practice, multiple rules apply and Specpoint makes automated changes as applicable.

For more information, see Best Practices Rules and Automated Changes.

Note: You can also perform the steps in this procedure to modify a best practice tag.

To tag a project content item as a best practice:

  1. Open a project in the project workspace.
If you intend to set a project parameter best practice, open a project that matches the parameters for the best practice.
  2. In the project workspace, locate the content item that you want to tag:
    • For an assembly, family/section, or product type, search for the element in the Project Elements pane.
    • For an article, paragraph, or option/pill, select its element in the Project Elements pane and search for the content item on the element form.
    • For a product listing card, click View Products and search for the product listing card in the Product Listings window.
  3. Display the best practices dialog box for the content item:
    • For a project element, click and then click (right arrow icon) for Best Practices.
    • For an article or paragraph, click > Best Practices .
    • For an option/pill, click .
    • For a product listing card, click .
Tip: As a shortcut, right-click the content item. This applies to all except articles and paragraphs.
  4. In the best practices dialog box, select Set as Best Practice to tag the item as a project parameter best practice or select Set as Global Best Practice to tag the item as a global best practice.
If you selected Set as Best Practice, select or clear any of the following parameters to determine the projects to which the best practice applies:
    • Project Group
    • City
    • State
    • Building Type
    • Contract Type
    • Construction Type
    • Sustainability
    • Owner
    • Geographic Region Zone
    • Seismic Zone
    • Wind Zone
  5. To save your selections and close the dialog box, click outside the dialog box.
In the project workspace or the Product Listings window, the item now displays either the project parameter best practice icon () in similar projects or the global best practice icon () in all projects.
