Guest Users

In Specpoint, users can be guest users in other A/E firms. This enables users to work under various firms at varying capacities such as consultants for specific projects.

A user who has access to multiple A/E firms can switch from one A/E firm to another through the provided options on the top menu.

Guest Users from BPM or Deltek

In addition to A/E firm users accessing other A/E firms, users from BPMs or from Deltek can also access A/E firms as guest users.

Primary Access

Initially, a guest user must be either a registered user in their primary (or first) A/E firm. Typically, a guest user initially gains access to Specpoint through the standard setup process for users in their primary A/E firm. A guest user uses only one set of login credentials, which are the credentials for the user's primary A/E firm, to access their registered A/E firms.

The primary A/E firm maintains control of the user's access to Specpoint. If a user loses access to the primary A/E firm (for example, the A/E firm deactivates the user), the user loses guest access to other A/E firms.

For guest users from BPMs or from Deltek, the same rules apply. Their primary BPM or Deltek maintains control of their access to the platform.

Guest Access

A/E firms can add existing users from other A/E firms, from BPMs, or from Deltek as guest users. This process is similar to the standard process for user creation with the following differences:
  • Administrators must enter a user email that the guest user already uses in the guest user's primary A/E firm, BPM, or Deltek account.
  • The guest user does not receive a user invite email.

See Add a User as a Guest.

An A/E firm can add, deactivate, and activate guests users at any time, similar to their regular users. In addition, the A/E firm can assign permissions, disciplines, and professional roles to a guest user that differ from the user's assigned attributes in the user's primary firm account. These modifications to a guest user's status, role, discipline, and permission apply to the guest user only for the given A/E firm.

Guest Permissions

Specpoint limits the access of guest users A/E firms' projects to protect project content and avoid unintended changes. The following rules apply to guest user permissions:
  • An A/E firm can assign only the author or contributor permission to a guest user.
  • A guest author can see only projects to which the guest author has been added.
  • A guest author cannot create or delete a project.
