Import Users from an ASCII File

This procedure allows you to import users from an ASCII file. An ASCII file is a text file that contains data based on the character-encoding scheme called the American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII), which uses the English alphabet.

Assign each of the imported users to one or more groups. You can add a user to a group using either the Groups tab of the Users application or the General tab of the Groups application.

For more information, see Import Users Overview.

When you manually create users or import them from sources like Microsoft Outlook Contacts, Windows Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI), or a CSV file, the EPM SA application automatically sets the Password Last Update field to the current date. This will be used for a future feature implementation.

To import users from an ASCII file:

  1. Create a text file in the correct format using one of the following methods:

  2. From the Navigation menu, click Configurations » Import Users » From ASCII File. The Import Users from ASCII File form displays.

  3. Verify that the comma-delimited text file is in proper order.

  4. In the Select File to Import field, enter the created text file. Alternatively, you can click Browse to display the standard Open dialog box, which allows you to search for the text file. The Open dialog box contains the following options:

  5. During the import process, Deltek EPM Security Administrator (SA) copies the data into the security tables, and creates an entry for each user in the Users form. EPM SA records any errors created in this process in a log file, and displays the Import Log dialog box.

  6. On the form toolbar, click Import.

  7. Click OK. The imported users are then added to the list of users in EPM Security Administrator (SA).
