Use the General tab of the Import Console screen to provide import information such as source, location, and schedule data.
Source
You can import master table information into Deltek Time\Expense\Self Service from three different data sources: from database tables, ASCII file formats, and Extensible Markup Language (XML) file formats.

Table
|
Select this check box to import data from database tables, also referred to as staging tables.
Note: Please see the Data Dictionary for the layouts of the IMPORT_XXX tables, where XXX is the name of the import master table. You can also review

ASCII
|
Select this check box to import data from ASCII files. Please review the Import ASCII Layouts chapter of the Deltek Time & Expense with ESS Technical Guide for a complete listing of ASCII file layouts.
If you select this check box, the
Execute and
Start/Stop buttons are disabled until you provide the
Import and
Trash locations.

XML
|
Select this check box to import data from XML files. Please review the
Import XML Schemas chapter of the Deltek Time & Expense with ESS Technical Guide for a complete listing of XML file layouts.
If you select this check box, the
Execute and
Start/Stop buttons are disabled until you provide the
Import and
Trash locations.

Location
If you selected
ASCII and/or
XML sources, you must provide the location of these files.

Import
|
Enter the full path name of the import location of the ASCII and/or XML files. If you do not provide an import location and try to save, the following error displays: "Locations are required."
If the import location is invalid when you save, the error message "Import and/or Trash locations are invalid" displays.
This field is disabled if you selected
Table in the
Source group box.

Trash
|
Enter the full path name of the trash location for the ASCII and/or XML files. The system will copy the ASCII and/or XML files to this location after a successful import. If you do not provide a trash location and try to save, the following error message displays: "Locations are required."
If the trash location is invalid when you save, the message "Import and/or Trash locations are invalid" displays.
This field is disabled if you selected only
Table in the
Source group box.

Empty
|
Select the
Empty button to delete files from the trash location. The following confirmation message displays: "Are you sure you want to empty import trash?"
If you answer
Yes, all .CSV and all .XML files are deleted from the trash location. If you answer
No, nothing is deleted.

Scheduled Import
You can schedule imports on an interval basis by supplying the start time and the amount of time for the interval before the next import is run.

Server Time (Hour)
|
This non-editable field displays the current hour. The program checks the server time once every minute and updates this field as necessary.

Server Time (Minute)
|
This non-editable field displays the current minutes. The program checks the server time once every minute and updates this field as necessary.
|
Server Time (AM/PM)
|
This non-editable field displays whether the
Hour and
Minute fields for the Server Time pertain to AM or PM.
|
Interval (Hour)
|
Select the number of interval hours from the drop-down list. This is the number of hours, along with the
Interval (Minute), that the system waits before it checks to see whether there is an import to run. The available options are "00" through "24."

Interval (Minute)
|
Select the number of interval minutes from the drop-down list. This is the number of minutes, along with the
Interval (Hour), which the system waits before it checks to see whether there is an import to run. The available options are "00" through "59."
|
Start Time (Hour)
|
Select the start time hour from the drop-down list. This is the hour, along with the
Start Time (Minute), when the system starts checking to see whether there is an import to be run. After that, the system checks for possible imports at the supplied interval. The available options are "01" through "12."
|
Start Time (Minute)
|
Select the start time minute from the drop-down list. This the minute, along with the Start
Time (Hour), when the system will start checking to see whether there is an import to run. After that, the system checks for possible imports at the supplied interval. The available options are "00" through "59."
|
Start Time (AM/PM)
|
Select whether the
Hour and
Minute fields for the Start Time pertain to AM or PM.
|
Next
|
This non-editable field displays the date and time of the next scheduled import, in accordance with the start and interval times.
|
Status
|
This non-editable field displays the status of the scheduled imports. This field is updated every minute. The possible options are:
- Started - You selected the
Start button. The system will perform the imports according to the values in the
Start Time and
Interval fields.
- Stopped
- You scheduled an import, but the
Stop button has been selected.
|
Start/Stop
|
Depending on the
Status of the scheduled import, this button will be labeled
Start or
Stop or be disabled.
If the status of the current import is
Stopped, the label on the button is
Start. Select the
Start button to activate the scheduled import. The
Next field is updated with the date and time of the next scheduled import.
If the status of the current scheduled import is
Started, the label on the button is
Stop. Select the
Stop button to stop the current import, and the next scheduled import is cleared.
This button is disabled if the current scheduled import is in the process of being stopped. It is also disabled if the administrator has disabled the system login ability or if you have selected
ASCII or
XML without providing an
Import and
Trash location.

Miscellaneous
Field | Description |
Retry Add/Update Transactions
|
Select this check box to treat an Add transaction as a Change transaction if the record is found to already exist. This updates the existing record for the transaction.
Note: If you do not select this check box, the transaction displays in the table in the Log tab as an error.
If you select this check box and import a
Change transaction that does not already exist, the record is added. If you do not select this check box, the transaction will display in the table in the log tab as an error.

Import on Demand

Execute
|
Select the
Execute button to run an import at any time. The
Execute button is disabled if the administrator has disabled the system login ability or if there is a scheduled import status of Started. It is also disabled if you selected
ASCII or
XML without providing an
Import and
Trash location.

Status
|
The non-editable field in this group box displays the status of import activity on the server. It is updated every minute. The options are:
- Executing - Either a scheduled or an on-demand import is running.
- Idle
- No import is currently running.
