The Relay tab on the Events form is used to define whether the event will activate a relay signal on the shop floor terminal. When the event activates a relay, the terminal gives an output signal such as a light going off or a door opening. The output signal can last a specified number of seconds. For example, when an employee scans their badge, the terminal may cause a door to open for 10 seconds.
You can specify the duration of the relay and whether the relay should activate for a successful event posting or an error. If the event is staged, you can configure the relay for the Start or Stop stage of the event.
Note: This feature is only supported on 9540 and 9520 terminals. You will need to know how many relays are on the terminal you are using and which relays are already in use. Consult your terminal’s operation manual for information.

Event Stage
Select the Event Stage when you want the relay to activate (Start, Stop, or No Stage).
The available options depend on whether the event type is Staged (the Staged box is checked on the Event Type form). If the event is staged, you must select Start or Stop. If the event type is not staged, only the No Stage option is available.
If you select Start, the relay will activate when the event starts. For example, if you are configuring a work order event where the Event Stage is Start and Response Indicator is Success, the relay will activate when you start a work order successfully.
If you select Stop, the relay will activate when the event stops. For example, if you are configuring a clock event where the Event Stage is Stop and Response Indicator is Success, the relay will activate when you clock out successfully.
If you select No Stage, the event relay will activate when the event posts based on the Response Indicator (see below).
Response Indicator
Indicates whether the relay should activate when the event posts successfully (Success) or if an error occurs while posting the event (Error).
Relay Number
Select 1 or 2. Relay 1 and Relay 2 correspond to the relays on Kaba 9540 and 9520 terminals. You will need to know how many relays are on the terminal and which relays are already in use. Consult your terminal’s operation manual for information.
Duration (sec)
Indicates how long the relay will activate. Valid values are 0.1 to 10 seconds.
Note: The length of time that a success or error message appears on the terminal screen may be different than the duration of the relay. The length of time that the error and success messages display is set by the TIMEOUT-ERROR and TIMEOUT-SUCCESS Terminal Profile Setting Types.
Click Main Menu > Configuration > Event > Events.
Select the event that you want to activate a relay.
Click the Relay tab.
To narrow your search, select 1 or 2 from the Relay Number field.
Click Find. The event’s relay records, if any, appear in the grid.
Click Main Menu > Configuration > Event > Events.
Select the event that you want to activate a relay.
Click the Relay tab.
Click Add.
If the event is staged, select whether the Start or Stop stage of the event will activate the relay. Otherwise, Event Stage will be set to No Stage.
Response Indicator determines whether a successful event posting (Success) or an Error will activate the relay.
Select the Relay Number (1 or 2) for the relay on the terminal that will be activated.
Enter the Duration (0.1 to 10 seconds) for how long the relay will activate.
If you want to add more than one Event Relay record, click Save and Add to save your settings and keep the Add Event Relay window open. Or click Save to save your Event Relay record and return to the main form.
Click Main Menu > Configuration > Event > Events.
Select the event that you want to activate a relay.
Click the Relay tab.
To narrow your search, select 1 or 2 from the Relay Number field.
Click Find.
The event’s relay records, if any, appear in the grid.
Select the event relay record you want to change and click Modify.
You can modify all the fields except the Event Stage.
Click Save when you are done.
Click Main Menu > Configuration > Event > Events.
Select the event that you want to activate a relay.
Click the Relay tab.
To narrow your search, select 1 or 2 from the Relay Number field.
Click Find. The event’s relay records, if any, appear in the grid.
Select the event relay record you want to duplicate and click Copy.
Change the Event Stage, Response Indicator, Relay Number, and Duration as necessary.
If you want to create more than one copy of this Event Relay record, click Save and Add to save your settings and keep the Copy Event Relay window open. Or click Save to save your Event Relay record and return to the main form.
Click Main Menu > Configuration > Event > Events.
Select the event that you want to activate a relay.
Click the Relay tab.
To narrow your search, select 1 or 2 from the Relay Number field.
Click Find. The event’s relay records, if any, appear in the grid.
Select the event relay record you want to remove and click Delete.
Click OK to confirm your action.
You must also define several Terminal Profile Settings if you want a terminal to activate its relay in response to the configured event. These setting types enable and disable event relay for the terminal. These settings also configure whether the terminal will activate a relay in offline mode.

To add these terminal profile settings, go to the Terminal Profile form (Main Menu > Configuration > Terminal > Terminal Profile), select the terminal profile, and click the Terminal Profile Setting tab.
