Upload Files
Follow these steps to upload files to Costpoint.
To upload a file:
- Open the relevant application where the file will be used.
- On the Context Menu, click Files.

Upload your file using either of the following methods:
- Drag and drop files into the Upload section.
- Click choose files to select files manually.

(Optional) In the
Alternate file location field, enter, or click
to select, the alternate location in Costpoint to save the file.
Files stored in alternate locations retain only the file name, extension, and date. If you do not specify a location in this field, it tags the file with the application ID and stores it in the database. - (Optional) Select Overwrite to replace any duplicate files already in the database.

In the Pending Files section, define or delete the selected files before uploading. The
Description and
Date fields are disabled if an alternate file location is specified.
- Enter a name or description for the file.
- Enter or select an expiration date. After this date, the file becomes eligible for purging via the File Download screen.

Click
Upload to save the file in Costpoint.
The Upload button will only be enabled when all listed files are free of errors. If a selected file violates any of the following upload conditions:
- Unsupported file type
- Exceeds size limits
- Conflicts with override restrictions
- Has an expiration date earlier than the current date
The file will display in the Pending Files section with a red border and a corresponding error message.
To view the current upload requirements, click the What files are accessible? link located in the Drag and drop section.
