Approval Settings Subtask

If your firm's accounting operations policies include segregation of duties, to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act or otherwise separate users who create journal entries from those who approve them, use this subtask of the Configure General Ledger Settings screen to set up requirements for journal entry approval. You can specify which journal entry types require approval and a transaction amount limit, if any, above which the approval requirement applies for each type.

Field Description
JE Type

This column displays each journal entry type on a separate row.

Approval Required

Select this check box to require approval for transactions of this journal entry type before they can be posted. If you do not select this check box, you can post transactions of this journal entry type without approval.

Required Above Amount

Enter the transaction amount above which journal entries require approval before you can post them. To require approval of all journal entries of this type regardless of transaction amount, accept the default value of 0.00.

Allow Dela Approval

Select this checkbox to activate AI approval of an adjusting journal entry if it matches the approval criteria. This checkbox is enabled only if you selected Approval Required and can be enabled only for adjusting journal entries (AJE).

Note: For Costpoint Cloud, you can choose to opt in to this feature for the Costpoint 2025.4 release. The ability to opt in is temporary and will be removed when the feature becomes automatically enabled for all users as part of a future Costpoint release. See the Manage Opt-In Features topic for more information.
Dela Approval Confidence Level

Use this field to enter a confidence level setting for AI approval of AJEs. This allows you to specify how certain Dela should be before accepting a match between new data and historical data. You can enter a value from 1 to 100.

This field displays only if you selected Allow Dela Approval.

You can set a confidence level based on the following criteria:
  • Low Confidence Level (e.g. 1): Dela will accept matches even if it is not very sure. This might result in more matches, but some could be less similar to the historical data.
  • High Confidence Level (e.g. 100): Dela will only accept matches when it is very sure. This might result in fewer matches, but they will closely resemble historical data.

Adjust this setting based on how closely you need the results to match historical data. Higher values mean more similarity, while lower values mean more flexibility in variation.

Note: For Costpoint Cloud, you can choose to opt in to this feature for the Costpoint 2025.4 release. The ability to opt in is temporary and will be removed when the feature becomes automatically enabled for all users as part of a future Costpoint release.
