Update Approved Engineering Change Notices

Use this screen to maintain an Engineering Change Notice (ECN) regardless of the status.

All the functions available on the Manage Engineering Change Notices screen are available here, but you can also reject an ECN, even if it has already been approved. You can also update ECNs that are in approval or have been fully approved and, depending on the ECN settings, modify ECNs that have already been implemented.

Note: Because ECN information is generally critical to the quality of an organization's product line, be sure to review all procedures and modifications carefully before implementing them.

You cannot use ECNs to create new provisional parts or maintain existing provisional parts. You cannot enter Provisional Parts in the Original Part and Change-To Part fields in the main screen. Therefore, if you would like to modify an existing provisional part, you must convert it to a standard part (on the Convert Provisional Part to Standard Part screen in Costpoint Product Definition) before calling it out in an ECN. However, you can use provisional parts within an engineering BOM function for a standard part in an ECN.

Use this screen to modify ECNs regardless of status.

Note: When an existing ECN's Status is P - Pending, I - In Approval, A - Approved, or D - Documents Updated, and you have selected the Provide Warning for Parts and Documents with Open ECNs check box in the Configure Engineering Change Notices Settings screen, the system displays a warning message wherever the original part is used. The warning message displays the ECN ID and status code for each instance where the part exists.

This screen contains the following tabs:
