Fields and Options

Use the Opportunities toolbar options and grid, and the related dialog boxes and forms, set up a work breakdown structure (WBS) for opportunities for which you want to do resource planning. If your firm did not activate the CRM module, you also use the + Add Opportunity option to add opportunity records.

  • Opportunities Plan Structure
    Before you can assign resources to an opportunity, you need to create a plan structure for the opportunity in the Opportunities area. An opportunity plan structure is a hierarchy consisting of levels and level elements that is similar to the work breakdown structure for projects.
  • Add/Edit Opportunity Form
    Use the Add Opportunity form in the Resource Planning workspace to add a new opportunity. Use the Edit Opportunity form to make changes or additions to information for existing opportunities. The two forms contain the same sets of fields.
  • Custom Opportunity Search Dialog Box
    If the standard searches (Active, All, and Mine) for locating and selecting opportunities are not satisfactory, use the Custom Opportunity Search dialog box to create a custom search. When you create a custom search, you have the option to save it so you can use it in the future without having to specify the search parameters again.
  • Edit Organization Dialog Box
    If you use organizations, use the Edit Organization dialog box to assign opportunities or employees to an organization.
  • Add Client Dialog Box
    When you add an opportunity in the Resource Planning workspace and the primary client for that opportunity does not yet exist in Deltek CRM, use the Add Client dialog box to add the client.
