In the Opportunities area of the Resource Planning workspace, you set up a work breakdown structure (WBS) for opportunities for which you want to do resource planning. You can do that either by constructing it level by level or by copying the structure from another opportunity or from a project. If your firm did not activate the CRM module, you also use this area to add the opportunity records.

    Use the Find opportunity field immediately above the opportunity title in the Opportunities area to select the opportunity that you want to review or edit.
  • Use a Custom Opportunity Search
    If the default opportunity searches (Active, All, and Mine) for locating and selecting opportunities are not satisfactory, you can create custom searches. When you create a custom search, you have the option to save it so you can use it in the future without having to specify the search parameters again.

    If your firm did not activate the CRM module, use the Edit Opportunity form in the Resource Planning workspace to edit basic opportunity information. If your firm did activate the CRM module, edit the opportunity information in Opportunity area of the Business Development workspace instead.
  • Create an Opportunity Plan Structure
    Before you can assign resources to an opportunity, you must create a plan structure for it.
  • Copy a Plan Structure
    An alternative to setting up each of the levels in an opportunity plan structure one by one is to copy the plan structure from another opportunity or from a project, and then make any needed modifications to that structure.
  • Edit an Opportunity Plan Structure
    After you add a plan structure for an opportunity, you can make changes to that structure in the Opportunities area of the Resource Planning workspace.
  • Open an Opportunity Plan in Project View
    If a plan exists for an opportunity that you have displayed in the Opportunities area of the Resource Planning workspace, you can open it in Project View to review or edit plan information.
