Cash Flow Statement Report

The Cash Flow Statement focuses on liquidity. It records your company's cash transactions (inflow and outflow) for the accounting period range or year that you specify. The Cash Flow Statement meets GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) guidelines.

Typically, you use the Cash Flow Statement to:

  • Compare cash flow from one calendar or fiscal year to another
  • Compare the current quarter cash flow to that from previous quarters
  • Provide financial documentation to a bank (for example, when requesting a loan)

The Cash Flow Statement shows the following amounts for the time period that you specify:

  • Operating cash flow
  • Investing cash flow
  • Financing cash flow
  • Total cash flow
  • Cash at the beginning of the year or period range
  • Cash at the end of the year or period range

These amounts are based on postings to accounts for the period.

Setting Up the Cash Flow Statement

Before you can generate the Cash Flow Statement, you must establish section headings, define subsections, and map accounts to subsections on the Cash Flow Statement Setup form in Settings > Cash Management > Cash Flow Statement.

Multiple Companies

If you use multiple companies, this report only shows data for the active company.

Multiple Currencies

If you use multiple currencies, this report shows amounts in the functional currency of the active company.
