What to Do if Awarded Only Part of a Project

If you create a project record in Vantagepoint for a contract you are pursuing and you are awarded only part of that project, you can remove the project information that does not apply to the portion you won, or, if you want to preserve the information for the part you lost, you can create a second project for that information.

If you win part but not all of a project you were pursuing, the simplest approach is to just remove the project information, including planning information, for the parts of the project you will not be working on, set the stage to a Won stage, and make any other changes to the project in Vantagepoint to prepare for planning and tracking the actual work on the parts you were awarded.

However, if you want to preserve the information for the part of the project you lost, do the following:
  1. Create a new project by copying the original project. (On the Actions bar in the Projects form, click Other Actions > Copy Project.)
  2. Assign the new project to a Lost stage, and remove the project information, including any planning information, for the parts of the project that you won, leaving only the information related to the parts you lost.
  3. Assign the original project to a Won stage, and remove project information for the parts of the project you lost.
  4. Make any other changes to the original project in Vantagepoint to prepare for planning and tracking the actual work on the parts you were awarded.
