In the Change Details view of a Forecast Change Request, if you change the work package forecast dates or if there is ETC outside the work package dates (for example, you load schedule status into Cobra and do not calculate the forecast), when you click in the grid on the Change Details Costs tab, a message displays letting you know that the forecast time phased values do not exactly span the existing forecast work package dates and provides you with two options.
If you select this option, remaining forecast (data after the current period) is spread over the new or existing dates using the following rules:
If the work package hasn't started and the start and finish dates are changed, the entire spread, including the current period, is slipped to the new periods.
If the work package hasn't started and the new dates no longer contain the same number of periods, the curve is stretched or shrunk using the existing spread profile (including the current period).
If the work package is In-progress and there is no data in the current period, the remaining is respread from the date after the status date to the work package finish date.
If the work package is In-progress and there is data in the current period, the current period value is not changed and the remaining is respread.
For example, there are 50 hours in the current period and a spread of 10, 10, 10 in the next three periods. If you extend the work package finish date out three months and choose this Respread option, the spread becomes 50, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5.
If you select this option, any forecast outside the work package dates (that is, before the forecast start date or after the forecast end date) is deleted and the forecast within the dates is retained. If records are deleted, the Total column is updated to reflect the sum of the time phased data. Any forecast in the current period remains unchanged.
When you click Cancel, PM Compass displays the General tab and any forecast dates that you changed revert to what they were before you changed them.
