Use Workflow Type Configuration to create workflow types that you use in PM Compass to manually or automatically generate workflow records under different categories (for example, To-Do, Work Authorization, Risk, and others). The administrator is the one who typically uses this feature.
PM Compass organizes workflows under categories and types. You can use categories to group workflows into different groups. You can use types to define the workflow properties. These include the fields on the form, the workflow steps, and the access control.
PM Compass has default workflow types that you can modify or copy. Aside from using Workflow Type Configuration to create new workflow types, you can also use it to perform the following tasks:
You can create more than one workflow type for a single category. Use the Form Designer option to modify the layout and the properties of the actual form that is based on the workflow type you create. You can make changes to the layout of a form, the selection of custom and source fields, and the field properties after a workflow starts; however, you should be careful in this scenario.
Workflow Type Configuration also displays certain default settings for the workflow type. For example, the default due date when a workflow is created; the relationship that the workflow can have with other workflows; the way that information from a source system (for example, Cobra) can be used to keep PM Compass information current, and the workflow steps that are involved with moving a workflow type through the necessary steps.
PM Compass includes default workflow types. You can use them as they are, change them, or copy them to modify them for your own use. You can also delete default workflow types or deny access to them.
When configuring a workflow type, keep the following in mind:
You have the option to modify its workflow steps
You must identify the fields on the workflow form
You can use the Form Designer to customize the form
Use the Workflow Type Configuration form to create workflow types that you use in PM Compass to manually or automatically generate records under different categories (for example, To-Do, Work Authorization, Risk, and others).
