System Settings

The System Settings form is used to maintain default values that apply globally to all users of the application. The setting types include date pattern values, time zone values, dictionary values, etc. If you create a new user on the Employee form, the system setting values will automatically be assigned to the user. However, a setting value can also be assigned to a group of users via the Employee Group Setting form and/or to an individual user via the Employee Setting form. The Person Group Setting and Employee Setting values override System Setting values. For details about the order of precedence, see Settings Precedence.

The system includes default values for all the settings listed on the System Settings form. If you modify or add any new settings, you must log out of the application and log back in before you see the changes. You do not need to restart the application server.

Setting Type

Name of the system setting For more information, see Setting Types.

Setting Value

Actual value of the system setting.

System Required

If this box is checked, you can change the Setting Value but you cannot delete the Setting Type.

Update Date, Updated By

These fields display when the record was created or updated, and the person who created or updated the record.

 

View the System Settings Form

Click Configuration > System > System Settings. The maximum number of visible records on each page is based on the number_of_records Form Setting in your Form Profile.

 

Add a System Setting

  1. Click Main Menu > Configuration > System > System Settings and click Add.

  2. Select a Setting Type.

    The available options are the Setting Types that are not yet defined in this form.

  3. Select a Setting Value.

  4. To add more than one system setting, click Save and Add to save your system setting and keep the Add window open. Or click Save to save your setting and return to the main form.

 

Modify a System Setting

  1. Click Main Menu > Configuration > System > System Settings.

  2. Select the record and click Modify.

  3. Change the Setting Value and click Save.

 

Delete a System Setting

You cannot delete a System Required setting.

  1. Click Main Menu > Configuration > System > System Settings.

  2. Select the record and click Delete.

  3. Click OK to confirm the action.
