Export Schedule Data from Microsoft Project

Use this procedure to export schedule data from Microsoft Project in csv format. You can then use the csv file as an import file in PM Compass when you have Primavera/Other selected as the scheduling tool on the Projects Schedule Integration tab.

This topic includes steps for the following tasks:

• Export schedule data from Microsoft Project using a new map

• Export schedule data from Microsoft Project using an existing map

To export schedule data from Microsoft Project using a new map:

1. Open the Microsoft Project file.

2. On the main menu, click File » Save As.

3. On the Save As dialog box, enter the file name for the export file and select the location where you want to save it.

4. In the Save As Type field, select CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv).

5. Click Save. The Export Wizard page displays.

6. Click Next. The Export Wizard – Map page displays.

7. Select the New Map option.

8. Click Next. The Export Wizard – Map Options page displays.

9. Select the appropriate data types and the text file options for the export file.

10. Click Next. The Export Wizard – Task Mapping page displays.

11. Define the mapping of the fields from Microsoft Project and their order in the export file.

12. Click Finish. The Export Wizard – End of Map Definition page displays.

13. To save the mapping you defined, click the Save Map button. The Save Map dialog box displays.

14. Enter the map name then click Save.

15. On the Export Wizard – End of Map Definition page, click Finish.

    You can now use the export file as an in import file in PM Compass.

To export schedule data from Microsoft Project using an existing map:

1. Open the Microsoft Project file.

2. On the main menu, click File » Save As.

3. On the Save As dialog box, enter the file name for the export file and select the location where you want to save it.

4. In the Save As Type field, select CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv).

5. Click Save. The Export Wizard page displays.

6. Click Next. The Export Wizard – Map page displays.

7. Select the Use Existing map option. The Export Wizard – Map Selection page displays.

8. Select the predefined map and select the appropriate mapping options.

9. Click Finish. The Export Wizard – End of Map Definition page displays.

10. Click Finish.

    You can now use the export file as an in import file in PM Compass.
