Contents

Field Description
Unit and Plan Structure Branch The unit name, the associated unit table, and the path through the project work breakdown structure to the level of the unit display in the upper-left corner of the dialog box.
Shift Select this option to push the assignment date range forward or backward but keep the same number of working days between the start and end dates.

When you shift date ranges, Vantagepoint keeps the same distribution pattern for planned values.

Change Duration Select this option to lengthen or shorten the assignment date range.

When you change the duration of assignment dates, Vantagepoint verifies that the new assignment date range is completely within the applicable plan date range. If the new assignment start and/or end date falls outside of the plan dates of the parent row, Vantagepoint prompts you to confirm if you want to adjust the plan dates to keep the assignment date changes.

If you are changing the duration of the assignment, select one of the following options:

  • Select Distribute Quantity and Amounts Evenly to spread the affected planned unit quantities and amounts to working days within the new assignment date range. If quantities are moved to a date range in which the unit already has planned quantities, the rescheduled quantities are distributed proportionally across that date range based on the distribution of the preexisting planned quantities.
  • Select Don't Redistribute Quantity and Amounts to keep the current distribution of the planned unit quantities and amounts.
From This Assignment Date Range

These fields display the current assignment start and end dates.

If this dialog box displays because you changed a start or end date in the planning grid, or if you selected the Change Duration option, you cannot change these dates. However, if you clicked to display this dialog box and you selected Shift, you can do either of the following:

  • Leave the dates unchanged. The entire date range will be rescheduled.
  • Change one or both of these dates. Only that part of the original date range will be rescheduled. The dates that you select cannot be outside of the original date range.
To This Assignment Date Range

Enter the new assignment date range for the row.

If you selected the Shift option, you select either a new start or end date, and Vantagepoint determines the other date needed to keep the same number of working days in the range. (If you entered a new start or end date in the planning grid before you displayed this dialog box, that date displays by default, and Vantagepoint calculates the other date. If you did not enter one of the dates in the planning grid before you displayed this dialog box, you enter the new start date, and Vantagepoint calculates the end date.)

If you selected the Change Duration option, you select both the start and end dates for the range.

Field Description
Reschedule

To start the rescheduling process, click Reschedule.

When you reschedule assignment dates, Vantagepoint does the following:

  • Verifies that the new assignment date ranges are completely within the plan date ranges. If not, a message displays asking if you want to update the plan dates to include the new assignment date ranges.
  • Redistributes unit quantities. If quantities are moved to a date range in which the unit already has planned quantities, the rescheduled quantities are distributed proportionally across that date range, based on the distribution of the preexisting planned quantities.
